FAQ

How long does it take to refill a cylinder?

With the manual pump:

OX500 = about 15 minutes
OX1000 = about 30 minutes (not recommended)

You must refill the cylinder in 5 minute sessions and let the pump cool down for one or two minutes because of the heat caused by the very high pressure.

With the yoke or DIN station: about 1 minute

With the 12v mini compressor:

OX500: 10 minutes
OX1000: between 15 and 20 minutes

To what depth can the cylinder operate?

In order to be used without any risk, Oxsea cylinders are designed to descend up to 3 meters deep. Nothing will prevent you from descending further. However it is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to descend beyond 3 meters.

What happens if I descend below 3 meters deep?

Nothing will happen to your Oxsea cylinder, this limit has been set solely to limit the risk to non-divers. Strength of Oxsea cylinders have been tested to a depth of 50 meters. However, even at 3 meters deep, there are risks to the user if the safety instructions are not followed. If you descend beyond a depth of 3 meters, you assume full responsibility for the dangers you face.

What happens if I exceed the maximum allowed pressure?

The products have been developed and tested to withstand a pressure of over 200 bar. There is no risk of bursting if the pressure exceeds 200 bar, but the user should not exceed this pressure.

How do I know if there is any air left in the cylinder?

The integrated pressure gauge on the cylinder allows you to check the pressure quickly and easily. You will still need to remove the cylinder from your mouth to do this check.

How long does the equipment last?

The equipment has been developed and tested over dozens of cycles, several hundred refills for the Oxsea cylinders, hand pump and compressor. Extensive strength testing was carried out before the products were inspected and certified by an independent body in order to be released on the market. And we keep testing our products to make them even more reliable and safe.

What kind of air is in the cylinder?

The cylinder contains compressed air, which is the same air as the ambient air that everyone breathes. It is also the same air that is contained in conventional diving cylinders.

Can I refill the cylinder with an air compressor I have at home?

No, this is not possible and there are 2 reasons for this. The first one is that standard compressors have operating pressures of 15 to 20 bar maximum, whereas our compressor is able to reach pressures of over 200 bar. The second reason concerns air quality: standard compressors do not have a filter to make the air breathable.

From what age can Oxsea cylinders be used?

Unaccompanied minors are not allowed to use Oxsea cylinders.

Is the equipment certified, inspected and compliant with standards?

Oxsea equipment meets European certification standards as well as ISO standards.

Each equipment meets the mandatory application standards for its marketing.

What are the mandatory safety instructions to be observed?

– Never hold your breath when ascending or descending
– Never descend if you feel discomfort in your ears, nose or eyes
– Never ascend quickly (never faster than the small air bubbles)
– Check your pressure gauge regularly
– Never use the Oxsea cylinder on the surface when the needle of the pressure gauge is in the red zone.
It is also very important to explain these basic rules to anyone using the Oxsea product.

What is the underwater autonomy of the Oxsea cylinders?

For the OX500 cylinder, the autonomy varies from 5 to 8 minutes.

For the OX1000 cylinder, the autonomy varies from 10 to 15 minutes.

The autonomy varies according to the stress and the control of your breath. It is advisable to breathe normally and slowly to preserve your autonomy.

What is the solution to have as much autonomy as possible?

You can choose the OX-1000 cylinders which will allow you a longer autonomy.
You can also buy several Oxsea cylinders that you can charge before their use to extend your autonomy.

Do the products require any special maintenance?

The frequency of inspection of Oxsea cylinders depends on its use, it should be done once a year if the product is used frequently. The maintenance must be done in an authorised centre (contact a diving centre) in order to check the internal state of the cylinder and the good functioning of the complete system.

It is also mandatory to clean all equipment with fresh water after each use.

Can the cylinder be refilled with a bicycle pump?

No, a bicycle pump is only able to reach pressures of 15 to 20 bar maximum. Our special hand pump is designed to reach pressures of over 200 bar. Its special (patented) design makes it robust and allows you to refill the cylinder without any physical difficulty.
You will also be able to carry out several refills in a row, respecting the cooling down time of every 3 minutes.

Can I travel by plane with a cylinder?

It is not forbidden to travel with the cylinder on the plane as long as it is empty, with the head of the cylinder open and declared as such when boarding.
If necessary, the airline can ask for the head to be disconnected from the cylinder, this procedure is very simple and quick, just unscrew the top part of the cylinder.
